Provisions’ Internships offer students and graduates the opportunity to gain invaluable on-the-ground research, educational and career experience in the fields of art and social change. Interns are given meaningful projects that further their stated interests and offer them the potential for significant levels of responsibility in support of Provisions’ non-profit mission and projects. Interns benefit from interaction with visiting artists, activists and scholars and they take part in public programs, seminars and field trips.
Recent interns have come from a diversity of academic disciplines including: Art; Museum and Curatorial Studies; Art History; Library and Information Science; Public Relations; Gender Studies; English; International Affairs; Community Organizing; Anthropology; History; Philosophy; Sociology; Non-Profit Management and Financing; Journalism; Filmmaking; Psychology; Art Therapy; American Studies; Science Studies; Area Studies; and Critical Theory.
Internship positions are unpaid, but may be available for university credit by prior arrangement.
We typically request a minimum time commitment of 160 hours, often completed through 20 hours per week over two months. Virtual research and project internships are available for those outside of the DC Metro area.

Volunteers are welcome. Provisions’ volunteers help with event production, library management, grants management, social media, video documentation, and special projects suited to their interests.
